ABOUT
Jelle Proost is an upcoming conductor characterized by his dynamic performances, inspiring rehearsals and deep passion for orchestral music. Born in Belgium, Jelle started his formal musical education in classical percussion and violin. He quickly became a member of the local orchestras and ensembles, which made him extremely passionate about the orchestral score and the role of the conductor.
Jelle’s commitment to excellence and his love for music have made him a prominent figure among his peers in the classical music community. He aims to achieve the best results possible with every orchestra, focusing on the sound identity of the orchestra.
Jelle Proost is een opkomend dirigent gekenmerkt door zijn dynamische uitvoeringen, inspirerende repetities en zijn diepgaande passie voor symfonische muziek. In België begon Jelle zijn muziekopleiding als slagwerker en violist. Hij werd snel lid van de orkesten en ensembles in zijn thuisstad, waardoor de interesse in de orkestpartituur en de rol van de dirigent werd aangewakkerd.
Jelle’s toewijding voor uitmuntendheid en zijn liefde voor muziek maken hem een vooraanstaande figuur onder zijn collega’s. Hij streeft ernaar de best mogelijke resultaten te behalen met elk orkest, met een focus op de klankidentiteit van het orkest.
Throughout his emerging carreer, he has led performances of many different orchestras and ensembles with a wide variety of repertoire. He actively participated in many masterclasses under the guidance of M° Collin Metters, Ricardo Averbach, Nikolaj Lalov, Martin Åkerwall and Symeon Ioannidis. He has worked with orchestras such as the Kamerata Zuid, Berlin Sinfonietta, Belgrade Camerata and the Berliner Symphoniker. Currently, Jelle is the chief-conductor of the Symfonieorkest Zuiderkempen (BEL) and the Music Association of Heikant (NL).
He completed two master programmes at the Conservatory of Ghent (Orchestral Percussion, 2015), for which he was praised as “a most promising alumnus”, and Fontys Academy of Arts (Orchestral conducting, 2022), where Jelle honed his craft under the mentorship of Etienne Siebens and Sander Teepen, developing a style that blends traditional techniques with contemporary expressions.
Tijdens zijn opkomende carrière heeft hij uitvoeringen geleid van vele verschillende orkesten en ensembles met een breed repertoire. Hij nam actief deel aan diverse masterclasses onder leiding van M° Collin Metters, Ricardo Averbach, Nikolaj Lalov, Martin Åkerwall en Symeon Ioannidis. Hij werkte reeds samen met Kamerata Zuid, Berlin Sinfonietta, Belgrade Camerata en de Berliner Symphoniker. Momenteel is Jelle de chef-dirigent van het Symfonieorkest Zuiderkempen (BEL) en de Muziekvereniging Heikant (NL).
Hij voltooide twee masterprogramma’s: • Orkestslagwerk (2015) aan het Conservatorium van Gent, waar hij werd geprezen als “een veelbelovend alumnus” en • Orkestdirectie (2022) aan de Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, waar Jelle zijn vakmanschap verfijnde onder begeleiding van Etienne Siebens en Sander Teepen. Hij ontwikkelde er een stijl die traditionele technieken combineert met hedendaagse expressie.

Remembrance Ceremony
Music Association of Heikant will play during the Remembrance Ceremony of the Liberation of the Netherlands during WW2.
A selection of chorales will be performed of which "Eventide" and "Nearer My God to Thee" are the most known.
The Ceremony will end in a solemn setting with "The Last Post" and both the Dutch and Polish National Hymn.

Vier componist-tijdgenoten plaatsen we naast elkaar (Grofé, Price, Copland en Still) om te horen hoe zij elk hun bijdrage leverden aan de ontwikkeling van een unieke "Amerikaanse" klankidioom.

SOZK speelt Peter, de Wolf
Symfonieorkest Zuiderkempen brengt in samenwerking met de Academie voor Muziek en Woord Mol een muzikale familievoorstelling waarbij kinderen van het basisonderwijs op ludieke wijze in contact komen met symfonische muziek. Maar ook de ouders en grootouders zullen genieten van de humor die in deze voorstelling zit. Op zondagmiddag 14 februari in de Schouwburg Rex brengt het SOZK de nieuwe creatie "Peter, de Wolf", waarbij niemand minder dan acteur Lucas van den Eynde het verhaal zal vertellen!

SOZK speelt Peter, de Wolf
De titel, maar vooral de ondertitel verraadt het eigenlijk al: het gaat hier niet om het meer bekende kinderverhaal Peter én de Wolf van Sergeij Prokofjev. Dat deze klassieker een inspiratiebron was voor het schrijven van de nieuwe muzikale voorstelling is uiteraard evident. De voorstelling gaat over de avonturen van "Peter, de Wolf", een wat oudere en verwarde man die zich probeert te herinneren waar hij ook alweer vandaan kwam. In deze voorstelling vertelt Peter de Wolf over zijn oude avonturen van Peter de Wolf aan bod, maar wat zeker is, is dat deze voorstelling op zichzelf een gloednieuw avontuur vormt!
